Chillin out in the backyard. It’s beautiful today...hard to focus on much but the grass and the sun and trees…
I’m heading to New York next week for some very exciting things that I can’t wait to share with you. I’m also going to be having a little Last Exit art opening in Brooklyn some time next week as well.
I'll keep you posted..

A few sketches of embarrassing moments..
Well, I am officially leaving for New York tomorrow (Monday) night, on the famous direct Jet Blue red eye flight. As usual, I'm running around trying to do a million things and trying to avoid injuries, as I always tend to do something kind-o dumb and reckless when I’m stressed out. (Like, fall down the stairs perhaps? Get my belt loop caught on my bike’s quick release?)
So, I’m not really sure I can take credit for this one, but to make matters slightly more comical/challenging I do have a injury-ish type thing right now that is making packing etc., kind of tricky.
I went to the doctor the other day for a routine check up type thing, and ended up getting a couple of shots that I was due for, one in each arm (a surprise to me). One in each arm!!
So now, both of my lovely and otherwise helpful arms, are sore and really stiff. I’ve been attempting to finish some paintings I need to do before I leave, and I look like Frankenstein wielding a paintbrush and trying to disco. Just ask the folks I share a studio with. They have been laughing and pointing at me for the last 24 hours.
Sighh..for those of you New York folks, I do hope I get a chance to see all of you…
I’m having an art opening at Last Exit in Brooklyn, on Thursday the 17th from 5-7pm. Hurrah!
Also, sorry to the folks whose emails I have not returned. I will get to you next week, I promise.
See you back here next Monday!

Hello friends, happy Monday!
New York City! I just got back to Oregon land, after spending last week in nyc. I saw a lot of friends, ate a lot of my favorite foods, gaped at how my old neighborhood in Brooklyn is changing, stayed up late, and overall had a fantabulous time.
While I was in New York I met with my fantastico agent, James Proimos and the editor and art director of Roaring Brook Press for a tasty Chinese food lunch. We ate dumplings, drank some tea, and talked about something that I am beyond thrilled to finally share with you!
Do-do-do (uh, that’s a drum roll)…
Roaring Brook Press is going to be putting out two children’s books of mine!
Yes, it’s really true!
The first one is called Secret Circus, and it is going to be released in Spring 2008!
This has been a big dream of mine for a long, long time. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the awesomeness of it all…..
pretty darn swell

A painting of mine called "Whale Hero" will be available as a print with Pretty Darn Swell starting June 1st! The print quality is amazing, not to mention affordable ($25). As usual with Pretty Darn Swell, a portion of the proceeds will go to a very worthy cause.
Buying art and saving the world, hurrah!
