Good morning friends, happy Monday!
I hope you all had a great 4th of July week. I'm back from a fantastico vacation in Chicago-land. I can't believe how fast it went, but isn't that always the way with vacations? I haven't had time to sort through the zillions of pictures and videos we took, but I can guarantee you that I'm much more rested and freckley than when we left.
It was the best kind of vacation, we did all of my favorite things...hung out on rooftops, ate pounds of watermelon, sang some karaoke, crawled around in the sand with wee ones, marched to bagpipes, had a few picnics, and of course...saw the Transformers movie.
Now I'm back in work mode, although still a little groggy, I must admit. This week I plan on finishing up my first draft of the Secret Circus dummy, and adding a few new mini paintings to my store.
Also, check this out! I'm now a part of this awesome website called the Illustrator Group Soup. There are eight talented illustrator ladies that are a part of it, sharing their illustrating ups and downs and all kinds of cool wisdom and illustrator advice. Yay!

Hello friends, Happy Tuesday!
I seem to be a day behind with everything these days, even my Monday update! Not a lot of new stuff to report around here, except that I just posted a few new mini paintings in my store.
Other than that I've been working a lot, plugging away in ye olde studio. Not a lot of interesting stories to share unless you count what I've been eating for lunch every day. Sandwiches are not that riveting to most.
So I will just say that later this week I hope to have something more of interest to share with you, because some very interesting things are just around the corner..yes indeed..

Image for new story idea...
I did a backwards summersault in the pool yesterday and my ears have some water rattling around in there. But luckily they were still working when Gabe helped me finish this new Hanner song.. Yes, really...a new song! It's been years since there has been a new Hanner tune released into the wild. Let's just say that it is a small smattering of many new songs on the horizon. They have been spilling very slowly from my guts over the past few years, leaking out bit by bit here and there. I kind of like the slowness of them. It makes them feel like they're just for me, and that's fine if they stay like that forever.
Anyhow, this particular song might have a little somethin-somethin to do with the Secret Circus book. Yeah! I've found that I really like making music with something visual in mind. I've always associated words and notes with colors, since I was a little kid, so that might be part of the reason. Not long ago I heard that the color association thing was kind of rare, they even talked about it on NPR, but I don't know about that. Doesn't everyone have it? Maybe to some degree. They talked about how composers that have that often have perfect pitch. Now that would be handy.
Also, here is the cover to a new story I've been thinking about. It's been on my brain a lot over the past few months, and I've been trying and trying to formulate it. It's new to me, writing in this way, but one of the most fun and challenging things I've done in a long time. I'll keep you posted about what becomes of it....
Have a great Monday!
