....and you are?

hello friends,
I am still in the process of getting some new artwork up here. (A new series!) Along with a couple of other exciting tidbits...
In the meantime, I thought I would share this photo from our cross country trip. This is in Memphis, when I snuck back into the old receptionists' office at Sun Studio and slid behind the desk of Marion Keister.
"Right this way, um, Mr. Elvis."

Spring is starting to poke it's head around here in Portland, and a lot of exciting things are blooming in Johanna land as well.
* A couple of abstract paintings that I made when I worked for Oliphant Studio, have magically appeared in this months (March) issue of Town and Country. You can see the painting images and more pages from Town and Country, on the artwork page. The small yellow painting and the pinkish red painting are mine. Exciting!
* I've updated the about page (seeing as we've just moved and all...)
* I'm working on a new series of paintings for kids. You can peek at a preview of these paintings on the artwork page.
There is talk around these parts about a store popping up here on this site. Awesome! I'm working from my own studio now, and have a lot more time to dedicate to this. If there is anything that you would really like to see in the store, let me know..
brains brains
03.15.06 11:03FYI brain lovers, this is brain awareness week! Last weekend, Gabey D. and I went to the brain fair here in Portland. I could give you pages and pages about why I think brains are so interesting and awesome, but I'll save that for another day. For those of you who don't know, I have a little bit of a brain obsession. I even have a brain jello mold (that has yet to be used..) but, you get the idea. Anyhow, my favorite brain foods are books, and I am in a serious book drought right now. I have bookfizzleitis, which makes me pick up a book, thumb through it, sigh, and put it down. Terrible!
Does anyone have any good book suggestions to get the little creative neurons in my brain to dance a little jig?
Lay em on me, any and every book you love that you think I would love too...
feet

This week's Illustration Friday theme is, feet. It's sad when your feet turn into wheels. Very, very sad indeed.
monsters
03.24.06 11:47
This weeks Illustration Friday topic (monsters! monsters!) couldn't have come at a better time. I have monsters and creatures and creepy crawly friends, on my brain right now, big time. It seem like it's all that I can paint these days. So, I figured in honor of such a great topic, I'll post monsters all week. Here is one from a series called "Sting and Bite" He looks friendly enough, but I'm not sure how close I'de want to be to those teeth, if you know what I mean.
