gather round the grill

07.10.05 18:58

Backyard weddings, open air movies, sweaty afternoons, and iced Tazo chai tea…it’s summertime! What a great time of year, with lots of barbequed projects grilling up and getting slathered with ketchup.

The Last Exit show is going up on the 30th of July! There will be an opening sometime after that with lots of beers in cans and good times. I’ll keep you posted.

Advanced copies of the Hanner album “No Guts, No Gravy” are being sent out to people in the press in the next few weeks. If you’re interested in writing a review of some kind, give the nice folks at Unsound Records or Solid PR a shout, and they will make sure that you get one into your little paws.

I had a whole kaboodle of postcards of the "babies" painting printed up for the heck of it. I would love to send one to anybody who would like to have one. Drop me a line with your address, and I will send them off until they run out.

body slam

Well hot dog little birdies, Hanner has a live show! We will be playing on July 26, a Tuesday, at the The Delancey, at 9:00 pm. The Delancey is a nice little how-do-you-do with lots of beers and a gardeny thing on the roof that makes you feel like you’re in the Great Gatsby. Hanner will be opening for The Pages, who are releasing their EP that very night! The album art for this particular Pages album, was made by yours truly. So besides being great music, it has a special place in my heart. Come on out and enjoy some musical good times. You can body slam or just sit against the wall and count people with red hair. What ever you want!

Lobe you

This week was fantastico despite the sticky heat wave. My parents came to visit me all the way from Oregon-land for the first time ever! It was awesome. We went to Ellis Island, barbequed fantastic foods in Zach's backyard, and best of all, spent a couple of hours in the Story Corps booth in Grand Central Station.

Thursday I went to Pete's Candy Store to see a great band that my drum teacher is in, called Matty Charles and the Valentines. Swoon! I ran into my friend Michael who I haven’t seen since the days of yore . What a lucky and great night!

Here is another band that my FANTASTIC drum teacher, Angela, is in. She is amazing.

A heads up for anyone planning on going to the Hanner show on Tuesday, downstairs at the Delancey. I’ve been moved to the 10:00 slot instead of 9:00. I know that is kind of late for Tuesday…but it sure would be nice to see you there.

To everyone who asked for a “Babies” postcard, they are going into the mail tomorrow. I still have a kaboodle, so just drop me your address and I will get one to you if you would like one!

illustration friday

07.27.05 08:41

Here is an Illustration Friday painting for this weeks theme, tranquility. I have always wished that if I could have one extraordinary power, it would be to fly. When I swim in the public pool by my house, sometimes instead of doing the front crawl..I like to dive deep and skim the bottom of the pool. The other swimmers give me the crabby eyeball, but it’s the closest I can get to feeling weightless and free.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Hanner show last night! I had a fantastcio time strumming on ye old ukulele. It was great to see so many friendly faces! You guys are awesome!

Do not blog about my birthday.

07.29.05 13:29

Who me? Gush about the fabulousness of The Fantastico Gabey Real as we approach the day that marks his birth 29 years ago? Or suggest to others that they should send him birthday wishes or call out to him in a yodel of loving happiness? Why, I would never do that.
