Books

This is an updated list of books written and/or illustrated by me.  It includes those that are already released, as well as those that will appear in the future. Oh yes, the FUTURE...when robots rule and we eat pancakes in pill form.

The Secret Circus

Spring 2009/ Roaring Brook Press / Neal Porter Books

Written and illustrated by Johanna Wright.  The Secret Circus is my first published children's book ever.  It's about a circus in Paris, under a carousel near the Eiffel Tower, that is so secret, only the mice know how to find it.

"The text has a gently incantatory rhythm, while the book’s twilight colors perfectly evoke the magic hour when shadows deepen even as the lights become more luminous." --The New York Times Book Review

"A quiet, comforting debut, best shared snuggled close together." --Kirkus Reviews

"The theme of a hidden world, universally popular with children, finds satisfying expression here. A delightful addition to any collection." --School Library Journal

Rabbits on Skates

Scheduled release: No release date set /Roaring Brook Press / Neal Porter Books

Written and Illustrated by Johanna Wright.  I'm betting you can guess what this children's book is going to be about.  In particular, it's about a young rabbit who believes himself to be a champion ice-skater, and the family who lives with his delusion.  Production on this one hasn't started quite yet, but soon enough I'll be painting rabbits like there's no tomorrow.
