Hello deep fried doughnuts,

At long last, the word is out....Gabey D. and I are moving to Oregon!

We're leaving the big apple behind after eight fantastico years here. It was a tough decision, but it's rolling along now at full speed and there is no stopping it.

We have visions of covered wagons and poisonous snakes dancing in our brains. We lay in bed at night trying to imagine the tetris-like fortress we will build in the Chevy out of our boxes and instruments and furniture....

Some folks that we tell that we're moving to Portland, ask us what the heck we think we're doing. "Why leave now when so much is happening for you here in New York?"

The truth is, we have a stack of reasons to stay and a slightly bigger stack of reasons to try something new. And at this point, we're both feeling ready to flomp into a bigger fish tank and thrash around. It could work! It could fail. It could get messy. It could be tree houses and baked pies and music on the front porch. It could...be impossibly hard, with rainy nights of regret. Chances are it will be all of these things.

We're heading out on February 1st. We're going to take the long way cross country, (through the south) for two main reasons.

1. We will avoid snow.

2. We can settle our long standing bet about whether the boob roller coaster at Dollywood does or does not exist. (My vote is, yes. Yes it does.)

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Hanner show last night. There was a lot of great music and an actual campfire keeping everyone cozy! My kind of place. I will post more pictures when I gather my hoo-haw together...

Hello egg rolls,

Happy Monday. Word on the street: a Hanner show tomorrow night at the The Delancey! Should be fantstico, we're going on at 9:00, so you won't be peeling yourself out of there at 2:00am. On a TUESDAY (*ahem, like the fun, but tiring Delancey shows of yore...) We will be selling cd's, recycled totes and t-shirts.

Let's see, this weekend was very relaxing and restful. We ate beautifully cooked dinners with friends on Saturday and Sunday. So nice. Other than that, I spent a lot of time staring off into space or napping.

I updated my friends page, and added a bunch of folks. If you're intersted in swapping links, just let me know and I will add you into the cozy campfire circle...

ode to angela December 01, 2005

When you were a kid, didn’t you want to play the drums, like Animal?

I’ve been taking drum lessons for about a year and half with a fantastic lady named Angela. She is one of the most talented, hard working, funny and beautiful people I know. She drums for Holy Ghost, (along with about three million other side projects.)

It’s tough to try something new, and when I first sat down at a drum set, I felt like a robot in a baby factory. Or…a pickle in a peanut parade. But Angela has a way of teaching that makes you feel like you’re completely competent, even when you’re poking your own eyeball with a drum stick.

Over this last year or so, I’ve gotten the hang of some pretty basic drum moves. Even when I’m flailing around like an uncoordinated mass, I feel satisfied and happy that I’m trying…

It just goes to show, that it’s never to late to learn an instrument.

Hello tator totters,

I hope those of you that celebrated turkey day had a good one! I sure did. Pie, pie as far as the eye could see...

I am taking this post-holiday Monday to post a little blurb about Hanner that was in this months issue of 7 x 7. The one with Kevin Bacon on the cover! Mr.Footloose himself. I was pretty excited about it, so I thought I would take a second to toot my own tuba.

For those of you who have no idea what the heck I'm talking about, take a look at the music page. I just updated it, and listed a few New York shows that we have coming up.

Some of you have been asking about where you can buy the recycled silkscreened shirts that I was selling at the show last week....I'm working on getting organized with those. I hope to have them up here shortly...

ahhh the cd release was awesome! Thanks to everyone who came out. Candy was eaten, fancy drinks were sipped, beers were guzzled, feet were stomped, humans were hugged, and cds were released into the wild like little homesick turkeys.

It was a full house in there and a such a great, and cozy, warm, place to play. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone who made last night so incredibly special!!

new paintings November 13, 2005

Hello plaid panthers,

New paintings are in the works, ghostly ones and underwater ones and all kinds in between. A whole new batch of paintings are going up at Last Exit next Sunday.
