I’m trying to get better at updating my website stuff. Like Vikki, from It’s a Small Wonder. That girl didn’t even SLEEP, just stood up in a closet for a few hours with her eyes closed. Sure, she was a robot, but you know, she was super efficient. Anyhow, I have just updated my artwork page, and I think I’ve almost got it. I’m missing a few images, but hope to have them up this weekend. The Song Series painting show is still happening at Last Exit. The paintings look fantastic against the brick wall in there. A bunch of them have sold and I’ve marked them as sold on the artwork page. The ones that are still available, have kept their titles. That should simplify things for those that are interested. I am in the process of updating my illustration pages and hope to have them up again this weekend. Whoooo-hooooo.

Ahhh, the planet that only rains, sees the sun! It’s been a gloomy pour-fest around here this last week. I had to abandon two umbrellas into the umbrella graveyard. I had to wear rain boots instead of sneakers. I had to go to the dentist to have cavities filled.

But I did manage to fight off the flu by drinking stuff from fizzy tablets and humming Carly Simons’, Haven’t Got Time For the Pain. A remedy I recommend.

And….do-do-do-do..The No Guts No Gravy release party and show, has been set! It’s going to be at Pete’s Candy Store on November 19th at 11:00. More details soon..

The best thing to be for Halloween, is ideally something big and cumbersome that limits your mobility. I have some ideas for what to be this year.

4. ostrich

I'm gladly taking suggestions. Remember, the bigger the better. The goal is to WADDLE through Halloween, and to be afraid of being tipped over by

someone bigger and drunker than you. That's what makes the night so spooooky.

Well, I’m heading outta city land to spend long weekend in Arizona. Hurrah! I’ve never been to Arizona, except when I’ve zoomed through it on the train. I’m excited to see Gabey D’s family and grandfolks, check out some red earth and feel that dry desert heat. I’m also REALLY looking forward to the dozing part that happens once we’re on the plane. I enjoy the dozing after a sardine style week, too many projects squeezed into small spaces. Sometimes I wonder if the only reason I travel to places is so that I have an excuse to nap…

I think I will be playing a Hanner show on October 4th at the Delancey. That’s the day after I get back from Arizona land, but I will try to give you the full scoop soon. Have a great weekend.

This lovely building near my apartment has been polished for a couple of years to get this warm glow on the copper. Gone is the green top that I could spy from an airplane or the top of the Empire State building...

This weekend I am kitty sitting for Wendy and catching up on lots of little projects in her nice and quiet apartment. I am also watching episode after episode of one of my all time favorite shows..Third Rock From the Sun. So awesome.

It's finally starting to feel like fall around here, which means one big exciting thing to me. The New York City marathon! Whoo-hooo. Now you might think that this is a strange thing to be obsessed with, for someone who barely ever goes jogging...but I am, and I can't help it. Even when I was little I would get up at six in the morning to watch it on tv, all the way in Oregon-land. And for the last seven or so years that I've lived in New York, I've been lucky enough to walk just a few blocks from my house to see all of the runners zip by, right at the halfway mark. It's so much fun. Herds of people turn out to cheer them, out here in Brooklyn... little live bands, people in costume, little kids and hipsters and punk rockers all clapping and hollering with extreme gusto. I cheer and flail and scream and hoot for the joggers like you wouldn't believe. Last year, we high-fived and jumped and hoorahed for hours, and the next day, I was so sore, I could barely move. How embarrassing! When people asked me why I was moving like an old lady, I said "Oh..the marathon..." hoping I could just leave them to assume, I ran it. And who knows, maybe this year REALLY will be the year that I start training for it. I can safely say, at this point, I can run a mile pretty comfortably. Ahh yes....one down, (insert Chariots of Fire theme song and montage of me running in slow motion..) twenty five to go....

Ahh, what a week. Busy times around here. Tonight I start my first writing class for children's novels, at Gotham. Whoo-hoo! I'm pretty excited, but pretty beat after a long (but fun) time at the Delancey last night. Naoto and I played Hanner tunes late into the night. It looks like we're going to be playing there again on October 4th! Also, I made a My Space profile for Hanner, which has proved to be endlessly entertaining. I know I'm a little slow to discover it, but dang, it's so cool! I love clicking around and listening to tunes that people make.

Here is a Brooklyn painting I made with my niece in mind, to show her what it's like where I live. I'm working on something new for her now, but I thought that this painting should have it's day in the sun....

Also, special thanks to Michael for posting such nice things about the Hanner show at the Black and Red a week or so ago on his blog. Aww shucks. And thanks also to Carrie, for posting more pictures of the show and an awesome live audio version of psychic. These folks are very talented and should receive crowns made out of bottle caps and ukulele strings...along with thousands and thousands of high fives....

One of my favorite things about the city is seeing buildings and metal, crumbling and rusting, with plants growing in between. Few things make me happier.

Speaking of happy…I just got released from two long days of jury duty! Hurrah! Now I will be able to play at the CMJ party tomorrow, at Scenic, at 12:40 in the afternoon. Come on out and rock out with us. I’m going to be playing with The Pages, who are always fantastico and real-class acts if you know what I mean.
